Maundy Thursday Service with Foot Washing | 7 PM | March 24 | AGMC
John 13 records the servant actions of Jesus stating,
3 Jesus knew that he had come from God and would go back to God. He also knew that the Father had given him complete power. 4 So during the meal Jesus got up, removed his outer garment, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 He put some water into a large bowl. Then he began washing his disciples' feet and drying them with the towel he was wearing.
The act of foot washing has a spiritual significane you have to experience to understand. Although we don't wash feet on a routine basis like they did the day of Jesus the action of washing another's feet is nonetheless meaningful. On, March 24, Maundy Thursday, we'll retell, remember, and re-live the last supper and give the opportunity to participate in footwashing. Our gathering will reflect the events that took place in the upper room on that passover night.
We'll share in a simple meal of soup and salad, sing spiritual songs together, retell the happening of that evening, share in communion, and then break-out into footwashing groups for those who would like to particiapte.
