Harmony Springs Launches Build-Together Campaign

Harmony Springs Christian Church is launching an innovative community building campaign called 'Build-Together.' The church is putting up 1 million dollars it has raised from the sale of its previous building, rummage sales and congregational fundraising to build a new community-center non-profit hub in the Spring Hill Development on S. Arlington Rd. in Green.

Harmony Springs is asking the community for help in raising the last $250,000 needed to break ground. 'We decided to take Jesus' instruction in Luke 12:33-34 seriously and sell everything we owned and give it to people who needed it,' said their lead Pastor, Rev. Joel Engman. The church leaders decided the best way to help everyone in Green flourish for years to come was to put all that money towards building a community-center non-profit hub on the 9.2 acres they already own on S. Arlington Rd. in the Spring Hill development.

The community fundraising campaign will run from June-October 2018 with hopes of raising $250,000. 'The largest component of the churches' plan is a multi-purpose event center room with a capacity for 150+ people. The plan includes permanent space for community non-profits offices and meeting rooms. The church envisions events like baby showers, birthday parties, weddings, and receptions all happening in the building which will also be available for community organizing, seminars, workshops, concerts, non-profit meetings, and fundraisers. The building plan will include a kitchen that the church hopes will be used for community meals, fundraisers, and receptions. According to Rev. Engman, 'We are building to provide the space necessary for community collaboration. We hope and pray this building will facilitate efforts to help everyone in our community flourish."
